Oficcine Panerai Ferrari - Cronografo Oro Rosa - FER00024
Part of a single owner collection.
After brands like Cartier, Longines or Girard Perregaux, Officine Panerai decided to take on the responsibility of producing watches with the name of the legendary Italian Sports car maker on the dial. Like perhaps the Rolex Daytona with exotic “Paul Newman” dials, the venture was not a great commercial success and the project was halted a few years after production started only to be taken over by Hublot.
This was the only time a legendary Italian watchmaker associated itself with a legendary Italian car maker. The present ref. FER00024 is of particular interest, not only because it is part of a limited edition of only 50 watches, but also because it includes the beautiful hand wound calibre OP XXVIII, based on the magnificent Minerva 13-20 chronograph calibre from the 1940s.
Unlike Hublot, this watch presents a real fusion between the Officine Panerai design heritage and aesthetics, and what any discerning gentleman with fine taste would choose to wear on his wrist driving a vintage Ferrari or even a more recent example from Maranello.
What to look out for in this watch:
Nº XX out of a limited edition of 50 pieces. Mint condition with very slight patina, worn once. Beautiful hand wound Minerva based chronograph movement. Box and papers. 2-year guarantee.
