For anyone wondering why Richard shut down coverage at SIHH 2014....

Apr 24, 2014,07:05 AM

here is a very public demonstration of why it is necessary to lock down people wandering around with high resolution cameras who may, or may not, be part of recognized media.

It looks like a real one on the arm of a distinguished and high ranking Indonesian general.....

Wearing what he said to be a Chinese-made watch, Indonesian Armed Forces Chief Gen. Moeldoko speaks to the media during a press conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Under fire in the media after being photographed with the luxury watch on his wrist, Indonesia's military commander says his critics should move on, explaining the timepiece is a cheap Chinese fake. (AP Photo)

But no!  Read on!  He publicly declares it a Chinese fake and slams it on the table....

Richard is guarding his intellectual  property rights, plus the brand image to each and every Richard Mille watch owner.

It is such a shame that the world is the way it is!

PS.  With thanks to the friend who brought this to my attention.

Personally I don't buy it...

I more or less live in Indonesia, and have spent 20 years here. Military generals are extremely powerful and influential (and many are extremely wealthy people) in this country. Quite a few have successful businesses and have personal networths in the hun...

Or who's to say he doesn't have both...

Maybe he had someone find him a fake just for the publicity stunt of throwing it on the table.....or like you said, maybe he didn't care and threw his real one on the table as well.

+1 to that (nt)

I still don't by the restraint of high res pics, once one is sold it can get out there, someone can see it on someone's wrist and take a pic, I absolutely don't agree with not letting people take pics or showing your watches. fakes are here to stay people...

So...

Is he being pursued for having purchased the "fake"?

Somehow I'm not so sure it's a fake

but good if it is, since he destroyed it. More likely a stunt that was needed to avoid further scrutiny.

sin

Let's alone care about why he possess exquisite watches or cars...destroying such a beautiful timepiece is a sin.

Here is most likely the possible truth

So if u guys google around, there is a pic of him having interviewed without the media, just a pic of himself (pic attached). That interview was quite a few weeks back, maybe 3 weeks. I did see this first pic of him wearing it in one of the local business...

At a distance though..

something like this might be hard to differentiate until you got quite close. Many previous fakes just used round case screws; now even those are being (badly) copied. Ciao tutti, Theodore ...

Hmm...

Damn if the watch is real because it shows how much wealth he's accumulated and the income disparity. Damn if the watch is fake because it's a shame that a General supports fake products. Anyway, assuming that it's real, he can always send the watch back ...

It's real IMHO.

It's no secret many gov't officials as well as army generals here like to wear cool/expensive watches, our passion :) People say it's a fake? C'mon... When you live here all you life, you'll know how they are. What can I say? They have good tastes when it...

it's a way to get the media's attention for free, otherwise why all the brands did not act the same way? Rolex is probably the most counterfeited watch brand in the whole world, as well as PP, AP etc.... and they did what they were supposed to do, providi...

China's crackdown

The reason the Swiss watch industry is flat is because China is cracking down on high ranking officials wearing expensive watches. I have no doubt the General wears real RM (maybe not the one he throw to the ground), no real high rank officials would want...
