But people are reporting that he is wearing it at the U.S. Open. A different watch? And how come no news of this anywhere else?

wow

lets hope it gets recovered. I bet the person that stole it has no idea what they actually have.

Sadly true. I have even been informed that it is for sale. The reference

number given is to warn anyone being offered this watch that they are receiving stolen goods and not to buy. Please PM me, or any moderator, if you hear of any news. Many thanks Andrew H

I think they will struggle to sell it

for a large sum as who would pay a big figure knowing they can never service it or resell it

Tragic...

Shocking news, Must admit I am quite intrigued as to how someone managed to steal it, inside job?, opportunist?, I mean I would expect a $500k watch would be kept pretty secure in general. Anyway good point about it not being able to surface for servicing...

Ok, I'll give it back :)

Sadly not a good reflection on the brand either....

as the non believers such as Mr 'You cannot be serious' who ridicule such expensive watches in the first place can just say 'well, what do you expect?'. So not only is it sad for the person who in the end will be accumulating the monetary loss but an even...

And that comes from someone who has spent his life defending the high end watch business with comparisons of art at endless dinner tables from comments such as 'but how can you justify wearing a watch worth xxxxx when there are people starving in Africa' ...

I believe its the other way

 By: Jose Mourinho : September 2nd, 2010-12:25
I believe any news that comes from anything concerning Rafa and his watch is a positive. The only negative would be if his watch stopped during a game and he is seen holding it near his ear and shaking it. Thats a bad reflection, that would be bad news fo...

No No....

Trust me, the only real concern of people who stand on the precipice of 'should I really spend that much on a watch?' is the security issue of having so much money on them at any one time. Therefore, any high profile muggings or Burglaries just add fuel t...

I disagree

Honda and toyota cars have been consistantly the most stolen cars in America for years but still I am yet to see a report which shows people are not buying these cars because they are the most stolen.

Well you are the Da Guru! [nt]

 By: Da Guru : September 4th, 2010-10:43
that doesn't make sense! All said in good spirit and fun I hope!....

Very sad, I believe (unfortunately) it will never be seen again..

Look at art work that has been stolen, there are Buyers out there that don't care if it is legit, they still pay high dollar for it. Lets face it, that watch is a work of art for sure. Although a lot of times the fencing for stolen art is done before the ...

Im still very intrigued....

as to how a $500k watch gets stolen....I wonder if it was insured?. Surely there must be some sort of story about how it actually happened floatinng about somewhere....and has it been replaced yet?

Well as far as price and insurance value goes....

 By: roman : September 3rd, 2010-05:02
its not necessarily 500k we are speaking about here, right? I mean this was a prototype given to RN, by RM, for him to wear during his matches etc.... The real cost of the physical stolen goods is much less, then you take into consideration of course mark...

You can't replace a Prototype or....

 By: Da Guru : September 3rd, 2010-06:01
It wouldn't be a prototype! If I were the person that lost it, I would fight for double the RRP. A unique rm27? Has to be worth double.

True! but...

 By: roman : September 3rd, 2010-06:19
I believe it was a numbered prototype? Meaning there are a few proto's manufactured? If that's true you can actually produce as many protos as you'd like.

Then it was a 'Pre Series' not...

a proto in which case yes, it's worth less than a standard piece imo.

There were 2 identical prototypes manufactured. I was

 By: 219 : September 3rd, 2010-08:54
there and saw both of them. Tests were carried out on both of them simultanelously because of the deadline in getting the watch onto RN's wrist in match play. This was one of them: richardmille.watchprosite.com I had heard a report that it was for...

bummer for rm

 By: jobryan : September 3rd, 2010-09:36
thats a bummer for RM because they're the ones that are going to have to replace it.
