Very disappointed RM owner UPDATE Sep 2014 Returned

 By: illufa : July 21st, 2014-08:48
Hi all, I am hereby posting this thread due to my disappointment with the way RM has treated me. In fact, I have informed the local AD that I want to post my disppointment online and he actually said please go ahead. I have been a fan of RM since a long t...

my thoughts

 By: mjnoumoff : July 21st, 2014-10:07
I understand your frustration but this is the world of very high end watches. considering the price of the RM 04, how much did you expect a service to be for the watch? and FYI, most manufactures will not just fix the single problem with the watch, they w...

response to mjnoumoff and others

 By: illufa : July 22nd, 2014-07:48
Dear mjnoumoff, Yes I agree with you that watch companies take varying time to repair or service watches. I have experience servicing PP5712, Lange 1, Breguet Tradition and AP ROO. These took about 3 months except for my Lange which took 4 months. This wa...

let's be serious, guys

the responsibilities of this awful behaviour are the most of the customers, happy and glad to wait a number of months to get their watches serviced...and pay a lot of money, too I know a collector that send his nautilus to Patek to shorten the bracelet: 10...

While I understand your frustration (I have been down this track with a tourbillon)

I can also see the other side of the coin. Complex watches take considerable effort to understand and pin point problems on what went wrong irrespective of the manufacture in question. As already mentioned, there is a side here that requires that the watc...

Highend watch service

 By: AndrewD : July 21st, 2014-15:58
I can feel your frustration, but what you are experiencing is common, particularly at this high end. The RM04 is a fantastic watch, but even within Richard Mille there are probably only a handful of experienced watchmakers that can work on it. The price i...

I agree......

.........with all the comments, having experienced a few problems with my RMs over the years. Theodore at RM proved extremely helpful in sorting matters out for me, plus compensating for the entirely inadequate attitude and communication skills of RM bout...

Sounds like this issue could be avoided with better communication...

From what I gather, the RM-04 movement has gone through some changes. A small series production movement of this complexity is bound to be difficult to fix, particularly if the fix involves making iterative changes to the movement. That being said, Richar...

Received watch

 By: illufa : September 28th, 2014-22:44
Dear all, I have finally received my watch last week. That's a good 9 months since I put it in. The final explanation was that my watch's movement was updated and the center case was replaced. These are in addition to the regular servicing. This is why it...

Thanks for the update

 By: Conkers : September 29th, 2014-02:01
If they are replacing the centre case and updating the movement (from V1 to V2 status possibly? I think V2 kicked in at about 2009) this is a big exercise and 9 months sounds reasonable for a split second movement. If this is being done for USD12k it soun...

Some thoughts on turnaround times

 By: watchthatman : October 22nd, 2014-19:48
Your experience with turnaround on service reminds me of an experience I had when I ordered a upgraded component for my stereo amplifier. The amp was manufactured by a small company in California, with a neurotic owner obsessed with quality. When I initia...

...to own something which takes a year - 18 months to service. Your time is precious, you can never get it back. If you cannot enjoy your purchase then the purchase is pointless.

Service time

 By: tom2517 : January 22nd, 2015-08:44
The reason the service always takes so long is because watchmakers at those companies are busy pumping out new watches. The availability of skilled labor are limited, so watch companies have to allocate them carefully, and watch service is usually an afte...

'and he actually said please go ahead' disgusting attitude...

 By: CGJ0 : April 12th, 2015-06:55
Doesn't massively surprise me. I am sure it's not reflective of RM as a whole but you find this in large luxury companies they begin to feel you are interchangeable and can just find another sale elsewhere if you leave... Hope it all sorts itself out and ...

Quality?

 By: iceheller 1945 ✌️ : May 17th, 2015-07:36
Taking time to repair is good as quality work may take time( not surprise if the caliber is not in-house) but quality should be built in at every process of the watch manufacturing! A defective expensive watch and watch part that dropoff when the owner ne...

I've had zero issues with my RM011...zero. Most accurate and comfortable watch I've owned (Patek, AP, Rolex, etc...). By contrast I know a colleague that has had to send 5 AP's in for service after buying new...5. I've never had a problem with any of my A...
