VERY DISAPPOINTED SERVICE OUTCOME

May 29, 2011,12:15 PM

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum but I need advice from anyone who can help..
I sent my PAM 277 (8 days - P2004 movt) for service because it is still under warranty and the 8 days' reserve indicator did not go all the way to zero. I received my watch after about 2 months from the local service centre and found to my horror there was a small piece of white linen on the inner aspect of the back sapphire glass and some black stain at 6 o'clock on the inner sapphire crysta l(probably some glue stain for water proofing?). I immediately told the receptionist and she brought to the attention of the panerai technician. She apologised and mentioned that the technician is elderly and probably some eyesight? problem. (WOw, I am a little worried, how in the world panerai - such a big company under Richemont has no other "expert, younger technician" to help the poor fellow. So back to the workshop it stayed there for another two weeks.
I collected the watch and to my horror, there was a deep scratch on the back near the serial no and the limited piece no e.g. xxx/250. I again informed the receptionist and she apologised and again back to the workshop.
It was supposed to be five days! but it took them 3 weeks. Now after 2 days of collecting it, the watch stopped working!
SOS can you guys direct me to someone in Panerai HQ (someone in charge of service dept) so that this watch can be fixed once and for all!
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
I hope they are as good as the Richard Mille people as I have a RM5 which gave a lot of problem and in and out at local workshop for half a year and one kind watch collector who also have a richard mille RM5 gave me an email to someone in HQ (assistant to MR Richard Mille) and they were great and asked me to send the watch back to them. You know what, they changed the whole movement for me which till now the watch is working fine. I think they did not have to do that but wow I am speechless with their level of service and I do not mind owning another one but heh I really have to save up to get one. This brand is worth saving for , right?
Sorry for such a long message but I need to release my frustration and disappointment.

Hi : I recently purchased a Pam 326 from a local AD and the next day it stopped. Back to the AD the next day and on to Panerai in NY. The watch was returned in two weeks in perfect working condition. I suggest that you take it back to the AD you purchased...

I would ask the local service center to forward watch to Switzerland for repair....

By local is that the Singapore service center? A very reasonable request in my opinion. After all, you have been most patient with them in their attempts. I would also write a letter to the director of the local service center and cc it to Panerai CEO, de...

Hi everybody, sorry to hear this story but that's not uncommon among mechanical watch customers....Even if it is highly disappointing. I had the same experience with another important swiss brand, and i was able to resolve the problem only by 1) contactin...

You wrote a book and didn't bother.....

to mention WHICH ONE is the service centre that handled your watch....BTW.. Knowing which one would help some fellow Panerai's owners, don't you think? Cheers - Sergio

As the saying goes, hopefully third time's a charm. Keep us updated, and hopefully the Panerai service center will come around this time. It happens to the best of us at some point in time. - Anthony

Thanks guys for responding. I just wanted to have a platform to release my frustrations and disappointment. I know mechanical watches have the shortcomings but heh I at least expect the watch to come back working fine and no additional blemishes or foreig...
