Patek Philippe

This will be my first Patek purchase and after seeing these two models next to each other at an AD the other day I'm stuck on which one to pull the trigger on. I know they are different beasts but interested to hear people/owners opinions or This message ...  

One of the most fine and attractive watches EVER!. The Nautilus is no competitor to it, IMHO.

It's a modern annual calendar that is elegantly original. The 5980 can come in later. Both pieces are great though !

The higher water resitance on the nautilus is another advantage for daily wear.

But to each his own.

it is an iconic model and first one-eye chrono movement developed. Dial is also more legible in any light conditions.

As I already have the pleasure of wearing the exact style 5205G that you are showing. It's a lovely watch, though at times the legibility can be quite low. The apertures is what makes it for me and the case is just so very different, what with the "Torped... 

Nevertheless, I would choose the 5205. The Nautilus is a great watch but this chrono model is not my favourite ; I prefer the simplier 5711, for example or if you want a chronograph with this movement, the 5960... The Nautilus case is so specific that it ...

In my opinion, with the exception of the grand complications, one of the most beautiful modern Patek's released so far. The combination between the white metal and black dial with accents of grey is absolutely mind blowing. I also love that it's a cousin ... 

but it depends on your lifestyle i think. For me a steel watch with a water resistance is important , a gold annual calendar watch is more suited to the office or evenings. Figure out your needs and the watch will become obvious. Either watch is lovely re...

You have all dress watches and need something sporty to wear then the 5980. You won't go wrong with either piece. Tony

to be honest i know that eventually i'd be getting both as i do think they complement each other in a way one is sporty chic the other is elegant. one is a chrono the other is a AC and both look stunning i however got the 5980 blue dial as i do bebelive i... 

other then "i want a Patek" and " i am willing to pay $x, so these are my choices"....search yourself, and basis this two very narrow criteria, i choose the 5980...the most modern chrono one can buy. best, Horo

What's Patek famous for...classicism or sportiness? Get the 5205G. You won't regret it...

is an important deciding factor. I have the 5980 and the size fits me perfectly, can be worn up or down, waterproof to go with jeans or even board shorts, looks ok in a suit too. I also tried the 5205 but found it too big for my wrist as a "dress" watch, ... 

Patek is a classic watch manufacture... I really don't like the trend of sporty watches. 5205 all the way!

I think the annual calendar complication is probably more than most of us need, but I absolutely love knowing the day of the week and the (correct) date. The 5980 offers a nice date window but it will need adjustment every other month. I find the chronogr...
