GENERAL ADVICE FROM EXPERIENCED COLLECTORS RE R. MILLE TIMEPIECES

 By: johnsinger56 : April 20th, 2007-15:46
I am planning to possibly obtain one Richard Mille watch in the not too distant future. I cannot afford most of what is offered. So, I am thinking about getting either the 005 or 0010 in titanium (I believe prices jump dramatically after these two models,...

Yes Peter, I have heard this as well. I am wondering if the same care and

quality is there with these two models as there is with the more complicated pricey ones. I generally prefer simpler watches and that may or may not be because of my lack of experience as a collector and lack of knowledge of the technical marvels of the m...

Maybe people are still recovering from the extraordinary RM012 presentation in Switzerland... Anyway, a few quick comments: - Try both the RM005 and the RM010. I know that in Los Angeles and Chicago, dealers have both models available - The RM010 has in e...

will do. I will most definitely try them on first.

by the way, do you know of an RM 16? Or is this one which is not out yet? It is supposed to be very thin in comparison to the others. I also wonder what the price is (or will be). Your input is much appreciated. JS

Check the RM website and select "English->International"...

They have updated the website with information related to the RM016 as well as the RM011. An interesting piece which is more dressy in nature, but not necessarily my cup of tea! In terms of pricing, you may want to call RM USA at 310-205-5555 or send a re...

One more point on purchasing...

Pre-owned pieces do come up once in a while. I would recommend perusing the dealers first (you may be surprised at what you may be able to achieve), and then keeping an eye whether a piece comes available in the secondary market. The key is to buy the sel...

I think I may prefer the RM005

 By: Scribe : April 22nd, 2007-22:30
I think the 005 has been discontinued, although it may still be available from some dealers. (005 is no longer on the RM website). I agree with one of the posters that 010 seems a little large (can't wait to see the 011, therefore). I have had the benefit...

Completely agree with Scribe...

... the RM005 is nothing to be ashamed of, and neither is the RM010. Only thing I have against the latter is the fact that the bigger case is there only for effect, and has not even a shadow of functionality since it houses the same movement as the RM005....

the 004 case is not the same size as the 010

 By: SteveH : April 22nd, 2007-23:30
the 004 and 008 are the same. The 010 is the same as the 003.

C'mon, Steve...

... 48.0 x 39.3 x 13.84 versus 48.0 x 39.0 x 15.05. The word 'anal' springs to mind...

agreed.

Perhaps the numbers look similar to you,

 By: SteveH : April 23rd, 2007-07:43
But as someone who has handled all of the watches in question, I can tell you that the 3/10 and the 4/8 do not look or wear even remotely similarly in size. The 4/8 is MUCH bigger and has the extra screws in the case.

Then I stand corrected...

... for that is what I meant when I wrote 'exactly the same size.' And I'm jealous to boot, for I never had the pleasure to actually handle the whole range! Having said that, the point of the remark was that with the 010 RM has basically built an airbag a...

Some thoughts on the thread - and apologies for taking so long

 By: 219 : April 24th, 2007-09:41
to respond. Personally, I would get the RM010 in titanium. At that price range, it is the closest to the RM philosophy as you get. Lightness, but attention to detail and construction. That said, the man himself seems to favour the red gold case (which is ...

Three RM'S on their way

 By: johnsinger56 : April 24th, 2007-14:10
I have been able to work out having the dealers send me the 005T, 005FMT, and 010T so as to try them on for a day or two. all are priced very differently (010 is more expensive w less room for discount..) I'm very excited, needless to say. I thank you all...

Sounds like fun
