First, for your first post, it would be nice to present yourself even shortly.
Anyway, welcome on our forum bendannie.
Concerning your question, I would start by saying all depends on the wearing habits:
Do you wear this watch once a week? 6 days a week?
Do you use it for sports (frictions + sweat)? or w/ suits?
I would say it would last not more not less than a very good leather strap (more than 450 $ in Paris for instance).
Then you can add (or remove) more or less regarding the finishing, the design, the shape, the way the inside parts are treated.
This would be a good base to start with, from my PoV oc.
So from 2 to 6 years depending on the above hypothesis?
But don't forget, concerning the price, that volumes are an essential creteria here: when you produce as few watches as RM, and thus few straps, the price is higher than for Patek for instance. Especially as the strap manufacturer won't use the same tools as RM straps are different from other brand's regular straps.
I know a polyurethan strap for a RM035 is around 250/300 Euros and the new kevlar is around 330 Euros. Furthermore, most of the RMs sold today have a polyurethan or other "exotice" ones (kevlar? I don't recognize the material from the pictures I often see).
Thus Croc straps stand for a very small parts of the straps sold with new watches (as a reminder RM's annual prod. is around 4500/5000 pcs). Hence, more expensive.
