Just thicker might not be the best solution but if you order a strap custom made, they can take that into consideration by leaving a bit more leather between the end of the strap and the pin holes of the straps

This is not exactly the same as simply getting a thicker strap but can yield the same results. My local strap maker does take the holes distance to the case into consideration for every strap I order

is to order curved end straps, and install them with the straight bars. It works a wonder on Rolex, and avoids straps being eaten by the case.

The watch itself is and looks awesome but the gap between the lugs and the case gets me paying the attention more to the gap than the dial.
