A few thoughts to keep in mind....
Jul 29, 2006,09:21 AM
1. As far as I know, the RUMOUR that the RM005 will be discontinued is the fact that the market has pushed back on the 005. It was thought that the 005 and 010 would co-exist, but the orders for the 005 are making it uneconomic for the line to continue. Hence, if it becomes fact it has been a market push making the secondary market less likely to push for higher prices. Whatever you believe on case sizing/wrist sizes/future trends, is up to you. Basically, the 005, if it does stop, is no more because there was not the demand.
2. Richard Mille prices watches not on what he thinks the market will sustain, but on the basis of the materials/manpower/technology required (plus the profit element of course). He then puts the products into the market and sees if it sells.
3. The RM011 will not be released until next year now. The price point will be above the 010, but below the 004. It is a chronograph with a large date, but they are still working on the design/movement. If you are interested, start saving your pennies now! There are no more details than that.
4. Unless you were at Geneva this year, then no one has ACTUALLY seen the RM010 (that leaves Felipe from the Purists as far as I know). When he saw the 005 and the 010 together side by side, he stated he preferred the 010. Felipe is not someone who endorses large case sizes:

How the case/face look in reality can only be seen when the watch is in front of you. Pictures of the 005 rarely do the piece justice - the same can be assumed for the 010.
Personally, sorry to see the 005 go, but that is just my personal opinion.
Thanks
Andrew H

RM10--what does it mean for the RM 05??--your best guess please....
By: PamLover : July 28th, 2006-05:17
I predicted on this forum, shortly after the RM 10 was announced, that RM would discontinue to 05 model. Every once and a while I get it right. What does the decision to discontinue a popular model line so soon mean to existing owners of the 05, in favor ...
RM005 is not really my favorite model,
By: Carlfa : July 29th, 2006-08:08
I am really looking forward to the RM010. It is also actually an upgraded entry level basic model but I like it better than 005 (only from the pictures I saw here on Purists). So whatever happens to price and collectabillity of 005 doesn't bother me. It's...

there are customers and there are customers

Hi Andrew, I think it bears keeping in mind that IF the 005 has been or will be discontinued due to lack of dealer orders that doesn't necessarily reflect a lack of interest from consumers, it just means that the dealers anticipate a lack of interest and/...
RM005 strap
By: Mike : July 31st, 2006-08:20
According to all the RM literature the RM005 is a true sport watch...swim, play tennis, ski etc. I get the feeling that most of the owners have not subjected their watches to anything more than a spectator sport? Otherwise, why leather straps??? Should no...
Strap

I find leather straps very uncomfortable once they get all sweaty, stinky, and hard once they dry off. A composite would be more appropriate for this high tech watch, then you could even use them for water sports.
